The words “Peace for our Time” were uttered by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain on September 30th, 1938. He made the statement after returning from the Munich Conference of 1938. The conference was supposed to have resolved the mounting tensions between Great Britain and the Nazi regime of Germany. This is part of the statement Chamberlain made in front of 10 Downing Street….“We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.” The part that really strikes home is the last portion of his statement to the press…..”My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honor. I believe it is "peace for our time." Go home and get a nice quiet sleep.” (link)
Flash forward 77 years. Similar to the years leading up to the Second World War; we have a world that has not yet recovered from a deep economic crisis, American Military might that is underfunded and undermanned, and an enemy that is bent on the destruction of all those who oppose them. That enemy is Iran.
The current situation with the Iranians began in 1953 with the CIA aiding in the overthrow of the Prime Minister Mohammad Mossaddeq. (link) This was done to place Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (then King) in the role of ultimate power, the Shah of Iran. Shah Reza Pahlavi was a modernizer who “promoted the growth of a modern economy and a middle class, and championing women's rights. He outlawed the chador or hijab (the full-body veil), encouraged education of women up to and including at the university level, and advocated employment opportunities outside the home for women.” (link). However, things did not go well. The Shah “ruthlessly suppressed dissent, jailing and torturing his political opponents. Iran became a police state, monitored by the hated SAVAK secret police. In addition, the Shah's reforms, particularly those concerning the rights of women, angered Shia clerics such as the Ayatollah Khomeini, who fled into exile in Iraq and later France beginning in 1964.” (link). As we know, this did not end well for the Shah. On January 16, 1979 the Shah and his wife were leaving the country for a “vacation”. Then, on February 1, 1979, the Ayatollah Khomeni returned from his Parisian exile and after loyalist forces clashed with revolutionary forces for two days, Khomeni was able to solidify his power and take control of the country.
I know you, the reader, is wondering “why the history lesson?”…It is my feeling that this situation is much, much deeper than most Americans think. The “Khomeni-esque” Iranians have a deep seated hatred and mistrust of the west due to colonialism and the more recent (in historical terms) intervention in their country’s politics. Our modern day issues with Iran began during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. “On November 4, 1979, a group of Iranian students stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, taking more than 60 American hostages. The immediate cause of this action was President Jimmy Carter’s decision to allow Iran’s deposed Shah, a pro-Western autocrat who had been expelled from his country some months before, to come to the United States for cancer treatment.” (link) On January 21, 1981, after 444 days of hell had passed, the hostages were released. That was the first of the many, many atrocities committed by Iran directly, or through their proxies; Hezbollah and Hamas.
So now we are coming down to the wire. Approximately 36 years since the Iranian Revolution…Iran, one of America’s and Israel’s greatest enemies, is on the verge of obtaining an Atomic Bomb. Let us look at the ever weakening stance on the Iranian nuclear program: “Back in 2005, the West was saying to Iran “zero centrifuges.” Let me repeat: zero. Next we were talking of a compromise at 5,000 centrifuges. The negotiations from 2005 and 2013 can be summed up in one word: retreat. A series of capitulations have left Iran with “the right” to enrich uranium, so now it has thousands of kilograms of enriched uranium. That’s enough to produce a bomb, contrary to the Obama administration’s commitment to Congress that it would not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.” “One has begun to feel that Obama is now more focused on his legacy as a peacemaker than the recognition that a bad peace is more likely to lead to war. That’s history time and time again.” (Link) This is why, to the amazement and relief to some, and the dismay and fear of others, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu came to address the American Congress on March 3, 2015.
The PM (please allow the abbreviation) of Israel knows, unflinchingly, apologetically and incontrovertibly that a nuclear armed Iran will pose the greatest threat to Israel’s existence since its formation in 1947. The PM knows that President Obama has been retreating within the negotiations with Iran, allowing them more and more concessions. On February 24, 2015, U.S. News and World Report summed it up in this fashion…” The negotiations from 2005 and 2013 can be summed up in one word: retreat. A series of capitulations have left Iran with “the right” to enrich uranium, so now it has thousands of kilograms of enriched uranium. That’s enough to produce a bomb, contrary to the Obama administration’s commitment to Congress that it would not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.” So now we have a situation that pits an American President who is more concerned about his “legacy”, the PM of Israel who is concerned about his country’s very existence, and the Iranian Government that has stated on more occasions than are reasonably countable…that they want to destroy the Great Satan of America and “Wipe Israel off the Map”. These people…no…these Islamo-Totalitarianists seek our annihilation. The Iranians you see, are adept at the art of “Taqiyya”.
Taqiyya is the practice of lying to protect the religion of Islam. “Islamic spokesmen commonly use Taqiyya as a form of 'outwitting'. The skilled taqiyya-tactician doesn’t want the matter at hand to be debated or discussed; so his opponent must be outwitted or preemptively outflanked by the use of Taqiyya. The objective is to divert attention away from the subject through duplicity and obfuscation.” (link) Does this sound at all familiar?? It should as this is what is going on now within the Nuclear negotiations with Iran. This part of Taqiyya scared me…you will see why….”A Muslim is even permitted to deny or denounce his faith if, in so doing, he protects or furthers the interests of Islam, so long as he remains faithful to Islam in his heart.” (link) Interpret that as you will.
So now…we sit and wait. We, the American People wait and watch as our President, who is too concerned about “peace at all costs”…who would rather throw one of our greatest allies, Israel, to the wolves and prefers to treat with the Islamo-Totalitarianist Iranians. We sit and watch our enemy, Iran, obfuscate, lie and dance circles around our negotiators as the Iranians attempt Hegemony in the Gulf Region via the acquisition of Atomic and/or Nuclear weapons. President Obama fiddles while the Iranians run military drills on “mock” American Aircraft Carriers. The 47 Senators, like the 47 Ronin of Japanese legend, have stood up for the American people and are trying to prevent the coming storm. They have been called war-mongers by the mewling cowards on the Left. These Leftists are the same people, the “peace at all costs” crowd, which delayed World War Two for approximately one year. That delay allowed Germany (and its allies) to bring itself to the brink of global domination. The war that followed killed over 60 MILLION people. This was the cost of delay...this was the cost of cowardice…this was the cost of the ideals of men like Obama. Molon Labe!
